Question: What do you mean by rotation and revolution of the earth? (Motion of the Earth)
Answer: The earth rotates around on its own axis. This type of movement of the earth is rotation of the earth. It takes about 23 hours, 56 seconds and 4 minutes.
On the other hand the earth moves around the sun within about 365.25 days. This movement of the earth occurs in a fixed path (orbit).

Question: What do you mean by orbit plane? (Motion of the Earth)
Answer: This is an imaginary plane forms within the fixed orbital plane. This is called as orbit plane.

Question: What do you mean by illumination circle? (Motion of the Earth)
Answer: The receives light and heat from the sun. Only half of the earth receives light at a time. The place facing to the sun experiences day time and on the same time other half part of the earth experiences night. In this way one circle creates between the part of experiencing day and night. This circle is known as circle of illumination.

Question: Write a short note on leap year. (Motion of the Earth)

Answer: Generally it is consider that one year means 365 days. Here we ignore about 6 hours per year. Hence we added this six hour every 4 year to make one day (24 hours). On that particular year one day is added to the month of February. In this way after every 4 years 366 day is taken as the whole year. Such a type of year is called as leap year.

Question: Briefly explain about summer solstice. (Motion of the Earth)
Answer: The sun’s rays fall directly overhead of the tropic of cancer on 21st June. As a result this area receives more temperature or more heat. As the north pole is inclined towards the sun continuously receives day light for about 6 months. In this way in the tropic of cancer region experienced longest day and shortest night. This position of the sun over the tropic of cancer on 21st June is called as the summer solstice.

Question: Explain in brief about winter solstice. (Motion of the Earth)

Answer: The sun’s rays fall directly overhead of the tropic of Capricorn on 22nd December. As a result this area receives more heat. As the south pole is inclined towards the sun in this time, this south pole area experienced continuously day light about 6 months. In this way the tropic of Capricorn region experienced longest day and shortest night on 22nd December. This position of the sun on 22nd June is known as the winter solstice.

Question: What do you mean by equinox? (Motion of the Earth)
Answer: On the day of 21st March and 23rd September, the sun rays directly fall over the equator vertically. In this time neither the north pole or the south pole tilted towards the sun. Therefore, as a result the length of day and night become equal on 23rd March and 23rd September. This position is called as Equinox.
